The Beach

Camping at the beach...it is easily one of our family's favorite spots to vacation. The beach has a little something for each of us...including someone (who will remain nameless) that decided breaking his big toe the first day would help to slow us down, enjoy the peacefulness, relax, and breathe. Well played buddy, well played.

Nevermind that the campsite we stay at is a beautiful little cove with the clearest waves I have ever seen. The colors of the ocean in this cove resemble those found in some exotic resort...hues of blue and green, aqua and turquoise. So clear that you could see little fish swimming and sea lions frequently jumping through the waves...which made Chris immediately think if there are fish and sea lions then surely there are SHARKS!

The beach gives us freedom and a calm that unfortunately is not with us each and everyday. I know the boys thoroughly enjoyed the sun, sand, waves, and critters...but honestly, I know that Chris and I enjoyed those two marvelous half-clothed little creatures even more. Having this quiet and uninterrupted time to spend with our boys...it was absolutely priceless. No schedules, no obligations, no meetings, no chores, none of the "little" things that seem to take up such an insane amount of space and energy and which seem to keep us from the "big" things...those boys!

So we immersed ourselves in loving on those boys...watching them take on waves, and then acting as life guards when the waves took them out...searching and digging for sand crabs, chasing sea gulls, sunbathing on the warm sand, building sand castles, throwing sea weed, having picnics on the beach, flying kites, and watching sunsets. Good stuff!
